July 3, 2012. TEACHERS APPRECIATION DAY SEPTEMBER 23, 1990. From Church Records.

This is a day of recognition and appreciation for the members of our church who have been most dedicated to the teaching of God‘s word. This is one job that is a never ending task. Both old and young want and need to understand the Gospel as it is written and apply it to our everyday life.

Jesus was our greatest teacher of all. He didn‘t have a class room. He taught God‘s word in many places and where ever people listened to him. His following was great and he had many disbeliever's also. As Christians we listen and learn God‘s word with the help of our teachers now and in the past, we all have many pleasant memories from our teaches.

Today at this gathering we recognize our teachers and their work in our church. These tokens do not by any means cover all the help and service these people have given us and our children. Everyone of the teachers and their helpers are to be commended for their enduring faith.

Nancy Melton has been teaching children for the past 3 years. She also helps with the childrens choir which we all enjoy on the third Sunday morning worship service. Besides that she and here class have started a food bank for some one in need on our Island.

Pat Lenthal has taught the young adults class for 3 years. She has a way of her own to teach her class and it is always interesting and the discussions and views of the class make a lesson most interesting. She is also to be commended for getting herself and her four children ready for Sunday school and church, besides having a beautiful voice in the choir.

There is a lady who helps with the young adult class in Pats absence. She has taught children and young adults since the early 40's. Izola this is almost a half a century. Bless you. She will teach a class at any time and always very informative when she does. Izola once said when you prepare to teach a lesson you feel good all over. Just listening to her makes you feel like you are really on God‘s list of learning Christians.

Janet Robbins has taught the young children for 9 years, the children like her and the things she has done in her class. We cannot forget Mama Bear and Papa Bear who started teaching this class this year. Vickie Ansell and Howard Mc Cleod are a blessing to this class especially when they have a parade to all the classes and sing Jesus Loves Me. Thanks a million Vickie and Howard.

Barbara Hull has been teaching and taking care of the Nursery children for the past 7 years. She has a way with children and always seems to have some around her at all times.

Sharon Flannagan has taught young people for about 12 years. She has taught many different classes of young people, so she certainly knows young people.

Martha Burns has taught for 8 years, she has taught teenagers and younger children. She has also been Sunday School Superintendent for many years, which she has done an excellent job. 0h,yes we cannot forget her as Whillamenia the puppet who all of us love. Bless you Martha.

Margaret Mathews has taught for approximately 20 years. The Ever Ready Class is very lucky to have such a dedicated teacher. Della Lewark and Hazel Smith are always ready to take over the class for Margaret when needed. All are dedicated Christians for God‘s word.

We cannot forget the mens class. Scott Etheridge has taught this class for 8 years. Scott has some very dependable help in his class, in Cody Burkindine and his son Larry Etheridge. These men are also to be commended for their work and dedication.

To all these dedicated Christians we say thank you and please keep up the good work it is greatly appreciated. If anyone here is not in any of our Sunday School classes you don't know what you are missing. As Christians we can never learn enough of God's word. Thank You.
