September 6, 2010. Comment: Cindy Phillips - I am the
granddaughter of Frederick William Bonney Sr. (1967-1972).
Granddaddy was born and raised on Knotts Island. I'm not sure
exactly where though.
I will tell you a story about my granddad. When he was minister at
the Methodist Church, he got a call from his bishop. Now you have
to understand that even though the church is in North Carolina, he
was in the Virginia conference. Anyway, his bishop called and
wanted to come and visit him. So he told granddad to call the
local Holiday Inn and reserve a room for him. My family had a
right good laugh over that. Most folks when they would come to see
my grand parents would just stay with them.
